Birchbark Lodge Quilt Top

Quilt top finished!

I'm working on this quilt as a gift.  I was looking for a semi traditional American quilt - without it being 'American Flag'-ish, and my friend Sarah over at My Spare Time found this pattern at the Moda Bake Shop.  Dang, there are a LOT of pieces!  And a LOT of points to match up.  Not all mine match, but they are close enough.

Next up, the quilting!

Wetbag

I used to cloth diaper Miss A when she was a baby, and I have this stash of PUL (waterproof fabric)....I figured I could put it to good use and make up a little wetbag!  Dinosaurs on the outside, white PUL on the inside...easy peasy.  And can you ever really have enough waterproof storage in your diaper bag?

Travel Chair Restraint

Hold the phone, I actually finished a project!  This may not seem like a surprise, but I tell you, I am currently working on a traditional patchwork quilt and DANG it is taking for-freaking-ever.  In between all the teeny tiny little pieces of the quilt, I got a few things done for a friend due with a baby.  First up....the travel chair!

I think Bullseye is a pretty good model, don't you?  I have no infants and no toddlers in my house to really show it off...

I like the little dinosaurs.

I think this thing will be great for those times when the little guy (or gal) just needs a bit of support.

Tinkerbell Dress

I've finally managed to remember to post pictures of Little A's Tinkerbell Dress!  The pattern is Simplicity 2872.

The wings are removable (Velcro, gotta love it):

The silky fabrics were shockingly easy to work with.  The belt is removable, and it also comes with little shorts to wear under the dress.

The wings use crinoline as their 'stiffiner'.  Between that and the chenille stems sewn into the wings, the wings are supposed to stand on their own.  They really don't.  They're still pretty floppy.  I'll try something different if I end up making this pattern again.  But that's really my only complaint.

Our Tinkerbell Dress worked great as a little bridesmaid's dress, Halloween costume, and now a great play dress!  I see many more fairy dresses in my future!

What can I say...

If you get it, you get it.  If not.....just smile and nod.

Teacher Appreciation

Well, once I got the mason jars dyed how I wanted them, the rest of the project was pretty easy!  Using each teacher's favorite color, I hot glued some fabric to the lids and used freezer paper to stencil the teacher's initial on the top. 

A few pretty ribbons on the side...

I got the idea for the appreciation jars here.  I gave each parent in my son's class some strips of paper.  All the kids sent back a note for each teacher, we stuffed the jars with the notes, and the teachers LOVED them.

And what's teacher appreciation day without a few flowers??
