Book Cover

We have a birthday party this weekend for a (soon-to-be) 7 year old.  I figured most little girls love arts and crafts, so I sewed up a personalized cover for a sketch book.  Between the book and a few pretty pens, we're in business!

I added a little pocket to the inside cover for papers or pens or whatnot.

I love how it turned out.  Although the size is different, I used this tutorial from Delia Creates.

Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) hoodie from 21 Jump Street

My husband rarely asks me to sew something up for him, so when he asked for a Halloween costume this year I was pretty excited.  And with how easy this request was?  Please.

He wanted to be Potassium Nitrate (KNO3) - the molecule Channing Tatum did as part of Molecule Mondays on the movie 21 Jump Street.  If you search for it on youtube you can find a video clip of the rhyme pretty easily.

I had my husband go ahead and purchase the hoodie (why make it when Walmart sells it for $6??) and appliqued the rest!  The pictures were printed onto iron-on transfer paper and ironed onto the sweater.  Turned out WONDERFULLY!

The front....

The back...

One of the best things about this hoodie is that it's completely washable!  Happy Halloween!

Pencil Case

It really has become my go-to gift.  The kids love them, and I'm hoping that the parents love that they're a small addition to any child's arts and crafts drawer.

So be forewarned....if you invite us to a birthday party and I haven't already made one for you....it's cooooommmmmiiiiiinnnnggggg......

Capes!

A few days back I saw this post on Lilybug Designs.....and knew I needed to make one.  I mean, how CUTE, right?  And thanks, Nikki, for the 'superkid' applique idea  :)

For my dear Miss Willow, on her 4th birthday...

She likes pink, and she likes sparkly....how did I do?

I lined it in black to give it a bit of 'funky'.  If Miss A's name started with a "W" I'd be really tempted to keep this cape!

The Craft Blog World

About 18 months ago I was looking around online for an owl applique tutorial (don't ask), and instead of just a tutorial I happened across the world of Craft Blogs!  I may be sheltered, or maybe it's having 2 babies 17 months apart....but whatever it is, I had no idea all this fabulous info was out there.  I fell in love.

I found the owl applique I was looking for at Lil Blue Boo.  What a cute and simple tutorial!  I made two matching dresses, and they turned out fabulously!  The dress pattern is another Lil Blue Boo, but that's a post for another time.

Since then, I've learned that I can find nearly anything in this fabulous community of bloggers.  And the folks who put the info out there are so talented and share their creations so freely.  What a wonderful thing - a community of folks who share and share alike!  Imagine if that was the norm!

Bunny Shirts

Last week I was looking for a quick little project (instant gratification!  ain't it grand?) and settled on making the little ones matching bunny shirts - something I'll probably only be able to get away with for another few years.

I grabbed two collared shirts from Target (I seriously love this blue!), drew up a quick bunny and sewed it down using some left over Steam-a-Seam and fleece.  It's not great, but it works!  Next year I need to spend a bit more time on the design and execution, but for now I'm satisfied.  The Easter Bunny didn't mind that they weren't perfect!
